Heavenly CreaturesRecognising a fellow romantic, privileged Juliet (Winslet) befriends Pauline (Lynskey). Based on their obsession with literary and cinematic fantasy the relationship develops into something more sinister as the girls summon up a mythological playground for their imaginations. The respective families attempt to separate the pair, with tragic results. Jackson, who made his name at the helm of flesh-rippers Bad Taste and Braindead, surprised everybody with this mesmerizing portrayal of a true story. His creation of the mindscape in which the girls live is as disorientating and surreal as a daydream.
