One season I got to work with a company that takes people on bear tours in the same national forest where this individual made his films. He showed me correspondence with Mr Treadwell, as well as shared the truth about his documentaries.

First of all, he was filming in a PROTECTED national park, where bears are protected, not hunted as he claimed. Secondly, Mr Treadwell would both request educationl information from other experts on the bears, and the threw rocks at either the scientists or the bears they were studying whenever they entered 'his' area of the state park. Eventually when all the PROFESSIONAL bear guides left him alone, it was then when he realized he didn't know as much as he thought he did, and began to try to make ammends with them. He had been warned many times that his techniques were dangerous to himself, and that his theory of the bears behavior was misguided. Subsequently, it was his ignorance that led to the mistakes that cost him his life.

As for the documentary, its entertaining, but don't take it all as being accurate.

than Steve Irwin, they both died doing what they had passion for. One with animals, other with bears particularly.. I love this Documentary. I think he found solace in what he did with these dangerous animals, when he couldn't find that sort of solace in us human beings.. my opinion. 5/5
