Gotti
Armand Assante gives a compelling and charismatic performance in this biopic of New York mobster, John Gotti, but he's let down by a poor script. The film traces the career of the "Teflon Don" from up-and-coming hit man to Mafia boss of the powerful Gambino crime family, battling wits with Federal agents. With its standard "mob-speak" dialogue and uninspired direction this doesn't offer too many insights into what made Gotti tick. Look out for Dominic Chianese and Vincent Pastore — both familiar from TV's The Sopranos — in the supporting cast.
