	Storyline:	40 years ago, Don Haskins went on the recruiting trail to find the best talent in the land, black or white. 7 blacks and 5 whites made up the legendary 1965-66 Texas Western Miners. Glory Road

An appealing Disney sports movie that underplays its potential, Glory Road is at least a more satisfying basketball saga than last year's Coach Carter.

Hard as it is to believe, UCLA did not win every national championship from the LBJ era through all but Nixon's resignation year. In 1966, humble Texas Western in El Paso came out of nowhere to pull off the upset Road recalls.

More important, the feat was a cheeky salvo for durable social progress. Texas Western coach Don Haskins (played with blistering zeal by Josh Lucas) aggressively recruited black players, then started five of them in the final against Adolph Rupp's University of Kentucky - to dis...

Glory Road entertains whilst pressing home an important message
Glory Road at first seems to be in the mould of 'Coach Carter' but with one very noticeable difference.The central theme of the movie is racism and the film is about making a nonsense out of racial stereotyping.The film includes some disturbing scenes which will put many people off seeing this film.

On the plus side,there are some uplifting yet intense scenes featuring the excellent Josh Lucas as the head coach of the team who instills a sense of solidarity and hard work into his players and it is satisfying to watch them grow together.

The film is set during the 1960s and the retro feel provided by the background music and clothes gives the movie some added charm.

Glorious
An interesting and insightful film, set in the 60's and centres on the key issues of the day - racism.

The story is told, without the usual self serving bs of this is how to do it, and with some mistakes and self questioning from the character of Don Haskin. Watching the movie in today's climate gives you a sense of what has been accomplished when it comes to prejudice, but only goes to show what more needs to be done.

The wardrobe, lighting and sets are brilliant in capturing that time.

There are light hearted moments, as well as the cringeworthy and the dramatic episodes which keep the story moving and serve to drive the plot.
