FranticPolanski took time off from his habitual darker themes to come up with this energetic and often light-hearted thriller. Centring on cardiologist Ford, who is stuck in Paris searching for his wife. A bunch of Arab terrorists is taking an interest in her after she has inadvertently picked up the wrong suitcase. Polanski enjoys piling on the references to his favourite Hitchcock movies, while Ford - in the style of Cary Grant in North by Northwest - brings a good measure of humanity and understated humour to his role as the American fish out of water, having to cope with the French way of doing things. |
