Foul PlayMixing slapstick and melodrama (as he did for Silver Streak) writer-director Higgins fills this comedy thriller with absurdities. Hawn is the recently divorced librarian who finds herself bored at a party. Taking up with a handsome hitchhiker on the way home, she inadvertently gets caught up in an assassination plot against the Pope. With Chase making his breakthrough to big-time stardom in the co-star's role and Moore also making his mark as the sex-starved musician, this is a finely tuned and fast-paced offering which is chock-full of black comic twists and perfect casting.
