Fool's Gold is a foolish enterprise if ever there was one.
In an effort to reteam Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey after their romantic comedy hit of 2003, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, filmmakers have tried to create a National Treasure-style movie that is neither exciting nor romantic. It's vaguely reminiscent of Romancing the Stone - though much more pallid and with far less chemistry than Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner had.
Where How to Lose a Guy was mildly diverting and McConaughey and Hudson did have some visible heat, Fool's Gold strays from the romantic-comedy genre and suffers. By trying to fuse a chick flick with an action-adventu...
A good ole fashion treasure hunt!!
I REALLY missed seeing a good treasure hunt movie like this. If treasure hunts are your cup of tea then this movie has it all and delivers in spades!! Action, adventure, history, Relationships problems, beautiful, tropical scenery, eye candy for both male and female viewers....the list is endless! This movie takes you on a mighty, adrelin fuelled rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. My only regret is that it had to finish.!!!
A really good, adventure movie. Don't wait, go see it!
An action-romance in the vein of Romancing the Stone, only not as good, Fool's Gold is not so much a movie as it is an experience: an experience akin to spending a couple of hours in one of those theme restaurants that hawk the laid-back beach-bum lifestyle by plying you with drinks that taste like suntan lotion. In other words, it's a big, cheesy, familiar bore. With its garland of set pieces featuring Matthew McConaughey in mortal danger strung together by beach-groovy musical hooks, Fool's Gold feels at times like a third-rate Bond movie set to a Jimmy Buffett album.
The shirtless, flamboyantly mulleted McConaughey stars alongside a burnished Kat...

Lots of sea, scuba diving, a yacht and treasure hunting. It is not too bad. It has a great holiday feeling. The acting was miserable, and so much missing in the movie. At some point I thought there were only 3 movie settings, kinda feels like a low budget film...possibly because it is so predictable.... Some unrealistic twists, then a nice unexpected sweet ending...the last 30 minutes get better....just when u think oh god this movie just drags on too much...I think nice for a one watch! I wouldn't put it in my DVD collection....Kate Hudson can't act though!
My expectations for this movie were very low going in, and I would say that the movie met them. I expected a fun, exotic, exciting adventure, which the movie delivered upon.
