Fan, TheDe Niro gets another chance to freak out, this time as baseball devotee Gil Renard who goes to extreme lengths to help his favourite player, Bobby Rayburn (Snipes), overcome the worst season of his life.
It follows the formulaic patterns of your average psycho thriler, with Renard's behaviour becoming increasingly erratic till the big finale, but the outcome isn't as predictable as you might expect, and De Niro's turn as the shambling nutter is better than the material deserves.
