Father Lankester Merrin thinks that he has glimpsed the face of Evil. While currently in Cairo, E... gypt, he is approached by a collector of rare antiquities and asked to participate in a British archeological excavation in the remote Turkana region of Kenya. They have unearthed something extraordinary and unusual...a Christian Byzantine church dating from the 5th century, long before Christianity arrived in East Africa, and in inexplicably perfect condition--as if it had been buried immediately after it was completed. The collector wants Merrin, an Oxford-educated archeologist, to find an ancient relic hidden within the church before the British find it. Interested, Merrin agrees to take the job. But beneath the church, something much older and malevolent sleeps, waiting to be awoken. When the archeologists start excavating, strange things begin occurring, and the local Turkana tribesmen who were hired to work refuse to enter the site. Things only get worse, ultimately resulting in madness and death. Merrin watches helplessly as the atrocities of war are repeated against another innocent village--atrocities he had hoped and prayed never to see again. The blood of innocents flows freely on the East African plane, but the horror has only just begun. In the place where Evil was born, Merrin will finally see its true face.

the friend who lent me his copy said it was 'boring' but i was quite surprised with this, it was quite good, i think the problem most people have with it is that they compaire it to the 1st one,DONT,that was(and still is)a classic,this is good gory fun.
A film of mind-bending stupidity
Why why why why why why? Is hollywood so out of ideas that they have to churn out awful sequels and prequels and remakes and rubbish, desperate franchise 'versus' films (hang your heads in absolute shame, Alien Vs Predator, Freddie Vs Jason etc)?
Make no mistake, Exorcist - The Beginning is an absolute INSULT. An insult to you, the viewer, an insult to filmmaking, and an insult to all the other films, especially the original Exorcist film.
But you know what? You can't really blame the money-grabbing, intergrity-free filmmakers. I blame the people who go and see these films. They're the ones who fund it, and make future sequels and prequels worthwhile. I've a...

Why did they do this film so many years later only for it to suck this bad. They ought to be ashamed of themselves! ..If you cant top the classics, be original!
the only thing this movie really has in common with the Exorcist is 1 the name and 2 the demon fragment which is found at the beginning of the original movie I can't remember for sure but the priests may be the same as well other than that this movie really has no validity where the story (based on a true story by the way) is concerned the movie seems to have been aiming to recreate the same feel as was in the original but seems to fall short the movie is not as bad as it could be however it could have been so much better as well 5/10.
idk which exorcist it was but when i was lil my mom woke me and my brother up and she told us 2 come and watch a movie and i have always been a horror fan but when I seen this girl walking down da staris da way she did I was scared 2 death [SPOILER]
. this is da only movie that scared me 2 death all these others movies is ok but doesnt frighten me like da exorcist did that nite me and my brother peed in da corner lol we was like 5&6 lol old times
