Well directed and a creative storyline
This movie is 'based' on a true story. Amazing performances. Very convincing and frightening. Also not a typical horror movie of teenagers playing about then being killed by ghosts one by one in a haunted house. A must watch in your living room, in the dark if you want to get really frightened!
The forces of good and evil wage a holier than thou battle for our attention in the hybrid thriller The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Inserting a dose of horror into a standard courtroom drama, writer-director Scott Derrickson and co-writer Paul Harris Boardman have constructed a well-cast yet dopey tale that is much less than the sum of its parts. It's certainly creepy, but not always in ways the filmmakers intended.
Laura Linney stars as Erin Bruner, a high-profile defense attorney hired by a Catholic archdiocese to defend Father Moore (Tom Wikinson), a priest accused of negligent homicide. The church, understandably not wanting to appear medieval, would prefer ...
Some genuine shocks punctuate The Exorcism of Emily Rose, an unusually intelligent genre item that manages to mix full-bore horror with courtroom drama. Anchored by a compelling performance from Laura Linney as an agnostic lawyer who takes on the defense of a Catholic priest accused of negligent homicide during an exorcism, pic may prove too talky and CGI-light to scare up devilish returns in today's mass market. But given the right chance, it could score with upscale genre fans of both sexes, especially overseas.
All clipped sentences and soignee power-dressing, Linney plays Erin Bruner, junior partner at a law firm run by Karl Gunderson (Colm Feore). Ambiti...

Ironically Stagevu works best for me. I'm using Firefox 5.o with an assortment of codecs. Check with your browser makers, your buffers, your codecs, etc. if you are having any problems. Update, update, update.
The Movie - I found this one to be a bit trite with no redeemable features. They tried hard to make it scary, but with the usual hacked bits. It's been done, and done, and done.
It's very vaguely based on a real person, but the reality and the illogical nonsense just doesn't jive. When a movie has to rely on the schtick that 'it's based on an actual incident' it's a sure sign the movie is lacking in it's own merits. For those who haven't seen the 30 or so movies with the same tired 'signs of the devil' spook scenes that came before this one might get a creepy thrill. This one made me roll my eyes and yawn. However, if you dig this stuff, this one has a bunch of it. Shadowy devil, 3am eeriness, speaking in tongues and telling off the priest from beyond the veil. Pop a beer, smoke your medication, or whatever gets you going and have fun
I am so sick of the Stagevu links! They never work for me. Always tells me to download suitable plugin but when I try, my system says that none were found!! Oh god I hate that!!! If anyone have a USABLE link please let me know! Thanks in advance!
