The Yugo joke will be lost on British and European audiences, so what remains is a character-driven 'comedy', as various characters may or may not be responsible for Midler's death. Some hilarious one-liners and sight gags, and De Vito in particular scores here, underplaying to some effect, but in the end you get the sense that the cast thought it was way funnier than it actually is. |
