Down And Out In Beverly HillsThis glossy, mid-1980s remake of 1932's Boudu Saved from Drowning remains fairly faithful to its source material but spices things up by having Nolte's tramp indulge in some bedroom aerobics with Midler's sexually frustrated society wife. Here, Mazursky directs Nolte as the tramp who is taken in by a wealthy Beverly Hills family after taking a tumble into their pool. Naturally he changes the lives of all around him, including Midler (who at the time was one of the top box office draws for producers Touchstone), and Dreyfuss as her stuffy hubby. Silly but fun, and a big box-office earner.
