Not as good as everyone thinks
It's wonderful to see Great British public raving over this movie. Yes, it's good and well made if you're at all familiar with the real life versions of the characters, but it certainly won't travel well. The improvised dialogue often seems forced, and fails to work when a lot of the (inexperienced) actors not only talk but shout over one another, which develops only into a self-conscious garbled mess. This makes any viewer alien to the local environment not only fail to understand the dialogue, but also fail to connect with the characters. Considine is - as always - fantastic, as is Kebbler. in fact i think i would probably go as far as saying, this is one of the best films i have seen in years.....full stop. now i understand its not going to be everyones cup of tea, but for those out there who like a great film with some good old fashioned brit-grit watch it! it's one of those films where you dont quite know what to do with yourself after it. i mean i watched this film and thought it was great 3 days after watching it, i thought it was amazing - reason being, i kept on thinking about it, it kept on coming back into my head, i think i was a bit traumatised by it to be honest, but if that isnt the sign of a good film i dont know what is.

it seems everyone really liked this film i wish i could have understood the words but the accents where so thick i finally gave up. darn..i wish there where subtitles.
This is a good piece of gritty drama lending more from movies like 'Kes' and 'Get Carter' (Michael Caine lead) than any horror really. 'Considine' and 'Kebbel' are great and Gary Stretch (ex-boxer) impresses considering, yet there is a feeing of improvising and lack of script but this adds to the realism imo.
Admittedly Shane Meadows' (Director/Writer) movies are distinctly British, English even, this is why I like him tho.
i actually thought this movie was pretty good,the lead actor did a wonderful job,and was very believeable in his role.even though the movie did have a its slow moments but what movie doesnt,good for a one time watch.3/5
This movie was ace..thats how you take revenge! I liked the way they paced the scenes.Show alittle of the revenge building then why..I figured it out about half through..,but the end was a complete surprise!! Excellent..10/10 form me!! thanks for the recommendation Dread!
i read all the comments and thought this film would be good..not. this movie totally blew, it was boring, slow, and just dumb, cant even rate this, thats how bad it sucked
for me this had everythin (apart from a gud soundtrack..that said the music that was played fitted the mood well)loved sum of the dark comedy moments, solid character actin,very freaky..etc etc etc..will watch again and again 10/10
Bassically a slasher movie with brains. Great plot and acting, some of which seemed improvised and if so even better effort 'cos that rarely works. Brilliant. One thing though,
