Why Darkman is rated so high is beyond me. I can't think of anything I liked in this movie. It cannot find it's tone between drama and comedy and fails at both. It's overly dramatic in a grotesque and ridiculous way. I couldn't muster any sympathy for the fate of the main characters. Then out of the blue a little bit of comedy is thrown in, and that feels totally out of place.

The two main actors, Liam Neeson and Frances Mc Dormand are usually quite good actors, but they felt totally out of place here.

The movie's effects are quaint, but not enough to be classic, and they certainly went overboard with the pyrotechnics.

The story itself is full of annoying plot holes: [SPOILER]

I couldn't wait for the movie to be over, and there's no way in hell I'll ever watch the two sequels.

love! love! love! "darkman". one of my favorite heroes of all-time. you can't miss. liam neeson is great. i definitely recommend. 3 of 4 stars very good.
