A few days in space. What's the worst that could happen?
It appears that Director Tim Story has the knack of how to metamorphose his ensemble from a group of comic book icons defined by their powers to multi-dimensional cinematic individuals. That's the quality that makes the Fantastic Four a great movie. Any elements that occur has far more impact because we do really care about these characters.
When it comes down to it, Fantastic Four is just a great adrenaline-pumping action movie but it's heart that gives this movie its resonance. The script is admirably fun yet still develops the characters in interesting ways, continuing and exploring themes of family and responsibility. Crucially, it's all played extremely straight, although when it's time for action ...look out! |
