	Storyline:	Planes reported missing in 1945 suddenly appear in the Mojave desert. A commercial flight is buzzed by a 'bright' object that the pilot 'wouldn't know how to describe'. However, a group of people, including Neary, share a vision which draws them to the place and a meeting with new, and old, friends.

Kind of cool concept, great direction for what it is etc, but extremely boring and weird movie. Couldn't watch it through. Maybe will give it another chance a little later. So far- this movie is just one big mess.

truly one of the all time sc-fi greats 10/10 for me im so glad i got round to seeing this film i hope theres just another film just as good and classic as this one well i hope the day the earth stood still is as good as this film cant wait to see that film lol well that was worth my time i recomend it to anyone who likes sc-fi films

Its about time I got around to watching this movie, and I'am so glad i did. The acting was well done by all actors (as with any Steven Spielberg flick) and was put together exceptionally well. 9.5/10. Almost the perfect movie.

In the beginning I didn't know what to think, but I like how this ended even though I didn't totally understand it. What I liked about it was they didn't openly explain the plot at all like too many movies and TV shows do now and by doing that they let you use your imagination so you can make up your own ending that you can understand.

Fantastic sci-fi film from Spielberg.. one of the best I've ever seen. Intriguing plot and incredible special effects for 1977.

It's just so mysterious and fascinating, that you could almost believe it was really happening. Can't really explain it, but I couldn't take my eyes off it. 5/5 stars.

I loved this movie when I was a kid and still love it. Dreyfus at his best! speaking of close encounters..I had one of my own in 2004 in Arizona, I saw the black triangle very close. It was definitely not a stealth bomber, it was huge and very quiet, it hovered over me for a while. I recall running from it because I was somehow terrified. I have always wondered exactly what it was. an alien craft or a U. S. Government project. anyway..I can't wait to see the new movie 'The fourth Kind !!

Yet, I couldn't help but notice that a couple of scenes have been missing - none to drastic to change the movie but yeah.
