Set in 2027, when no child has been born for 18 years and science is at loss to explain the reason, African and East European societies collapse and their dwindling populations migrate to England and other wealthy nations. In a climate of nationalistic violence, a London peace activist turned bureaucrat Theo Faron, joins forces with his revolutionary ex-wife Julian in order to save mankind by protecting a woman who has mysteriously became pregnant.
AWFUL!!!
I was hoping for a lot from this film , but it really is awful. The acting is almost universally bad, but Clive Owen must get a special mention for once again proving to have the acting ability and personality of a sideboard. The birth scene in particular had me laughing out loud he was so bad! The actors aren't helped anyway by the awful dialogue, it's so unconvincing and cliched. Also, at various points in the film a character will suddenly just break into a long speech about something we need to know - this is totally unconvincing, people don't do this in the real world!!
A mention must also go to the music for bringing the film down further - in keeping with the worn o...
Children of Men In 2027, mankind is infertile. With no more babies, the future is over, except for a beacon of hope in the UK. Clive Owen, Julianne Moore and Michael Caine star in Alfonso Cuar??n's adaptation of PD James' sci-fi nativity
Author PD James is renowned for her crime fiction, with a global audience for her Inspector Dalgleish novels. So her publication of 'The Children Of Men' in 1993 came as a shock. Inspired by news stories detailing the decline of fertility in the West, she re-staged the Christian nativity in a future Britain. Received by literary critics as a somewhat cranky work, and ignored by the science fiction community who never enjoy a "serious" writer padding a...
Clive Owens Best film by a mile
This film looks at what the world would be like if there were to be a universal crisis that caused every living person to give up hope on careers, relationships, society and life itself - the world is infertile. And human nature is collapsing.
This film captures the hopelessness of the world incredibly well! I felt completely sucked into the film. Also it is only 21 years in the future, so everything is recognisable as its all shot in England, which adds to the emotional connection you get while watching it.
It has been directed very well too, there is one battle scene which is entirely shot in one go, it doesn't change camera angles once-amazing!
And Clive Owen proo...
Children of Men
...gripping...compulsive...exciting and intriguing
Author PD James is renowned for her crime fiction, with a global audience for her Inspector Dalgleish novels. So her publication of 'The Children Of Men' in 1993 came as a shock. Inspired by news stories detailing the decline of fertility in the West, she re-staged the Christian nativity in a future Britain. Received by literary critics as a somewhat cranky work, and ignored by the science fiction community who never enjoy a "serious" writer padding around on their turf, the novel was a curio with themes that have, from the perspective of the 21st century, become increasingly relevant.
Director Alfonso Cuaron and writing partner Timothy J Sexton make a...

Good movie. Superb concept, perfect setting for this type of story, and a very nice cast; Michael Caine and Clive Owen work well together. I thought that the ending was a bit of an anti-climax though. 4/5 stars.
It was good, but I went to get a drink and when I came back I had no idea what was going on, there was a woman with a dog and I had no idea who she was or what she was doing.
wow..that was a great movie but a bitter sweet ending.at first i didn`t want to watch this mopvie because i thought it was going to be boring.but it`s filled with shoting, fighting and double crossing
