An awesome film. Like fine wine Cast Away will come to be appreciated in time.Worth watching over and over again for the one line which I will not give away. I dare you to watch it and not view life differently.

One of my all time favourites for sure.

Tom Hanks is brilliant in this, but he is so much of a great, memorable actor that flashes of his previous characters arise during the film. I couldnt help but picture Captain Miller when Chuck was giving his pep talk at the beginning, and of course a couple of Gump moments here and there. I'm not sure if thats a good or bad thing, I'd probably not tolerate it from any other actor, but he does take on some stellar roles. So I let him off.

The Island scenes are great, and really make this film. A lot of emotion is involved and it opens doors to much contemplation. But where this film goes wrong is with the off Island scenes. These bits, for me anyway, aren't timeless as I would want this movie to be. Frankly the 90's seem very lame and dull on film, and Robert Zemekis should have tried to distance this film from any particular era.

For that I would only rate this a 9.0
