Casanova
This film is ok but dont be expecting anything amazing to happen on screen, it made me laugh in parts, but seemed to lose itself in the middle, and the ending was a huge disapointment, the location of the film was amazing and Venice looks a fantastic place to visit. It has a good cast and Heath Ledger actually makes a very good Casanova, Sienna Miller however seemed to lack something and i think she is better sticking to films like Layer cake etc. The best character of all was the one played by Jeremy Irons, he was dark but very funny at the same time. Overall this film was pleasent to watch but also lacked a certain something, i wouldn't waste a Friday night to watch it.
a good romp
Casanova is a delightful comedy and farce with a tremendous cast of very talented actors. Heath Ledger is a wonderful and witty Casanova, Sienna Miller delivers a delicious performance, and Jeremy Irons, Oliver Platt and Lena Olin all add to the humorous plot and story. This film is fun to watch and see the romp through Venice as Casanova jumps from one rooftop to another in a very beautifully photographed film. Lasse Hallstrom has directed a film, which showcases the beauty of Venice in a romantic comedy that has beautiful sets and costumes. The ride in the hot air balloon is a cinematic moment, which captures the adventures of Casanova and his attempt to woo the woman he really loves. The ...

More 'Around the World in 80 Days' than 'Shakespeare in Love'; 'Casanova' attempts to fuse Blackadder style anachronistic humour with romantic drama, but misses on both counts and descends into farce. It has moments of silly humour, but just isn't anywhere near funny enough. Ledger is adequate as the man himself, but Sienna Miller is hopelessly miscast as the love interest and their central romance is entirely unconvincing. By the end, the film loses its tenuous grip on reality completely. It is unlikely to appeal to anyone over the age of twelve. Do yourself a favour and rent the bbc version instead.

But I adore Heath Ledger. He brought to life the story of one player who realized his mistakes BEFORE it was too late.
I enjoyed the movie; it was good to because it reminds people that women are more than conquests and objects, a frame of mind that I think the world has regressed to. I love period films--the costumes were spectacular. The whole concept of virginity made me laugh though--those virgins weren't virgins..the Venetian virgin, HA!
