Hey, truly an extraordinary movie, moving, passionate.. I'll never make fun of a guy in a kilt again!!

It's a very grim part of British History.. and I say that advisedly, Scots still remember who they are at heart. Strangely the English have largely forgotten what it is to be English, they lost their way trying to control the lives of others.. that's colonialism for you, you lose out in the end! And never forget, one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.. William Wallace was 'a terrorist' in his day (According to the English) and here we have a film that shows him as a hero, (made by an Australian!) I'm sure this isn't completely accurate historically, I'm sure the movie romanticises the story somewhat, but we can all draw our own conclusions.

Anyway, Mel did good here.. a classic film.. prepare to be stirred and shaken!!

Best movie I have ever seen. Seen it when i was just a kid and still watch it today. Probably over 15 times by now. It didn't win numerous awards for nothing. This movie and Legends of the Falls are my 2 top all time favourites.

Must see, superB acting.

awesome,awesome and more awesome. great frickin film,cast,acting and story. possibly the greatest war movie ever made. sad as hell in the end. mel gibson in this film is awesome times infinity. 3 1/2 of 4 stars excellent.

If only their were still movies like this! I've grown to be quite the junkie for war films and this one has got to be one of my favorites! Men of honor and strength, march bravely into battle because loyalty stirs them on. great stuff
