Blame It on the BellboyHardly fair on the bellboy (Pinchot) since in this incompetent farce his character is unable to speak English, thus setting the alleged comedy in motion when he confuses three similarly named hotel guests: Orton, Horton and Lawton. Since one of them is a Mafia hit-man, another an adulterous mayor and the third an estate agent, the opportunities for mayhem and comedy must have appeared limitless to the backers. They were wrong. Blame it on the script, the direction and the poor editor who had to salvage it at under 80 minutes. Too long, by half.
