flunkies
Dangerfield plays a self-made tycoon accustomed to buying people. He enrols at a college in order to support his son who is studying there, and continues to buy influence, friends, and grades. Some of the humour derived from the scenario is priceless and timeless, particularly an exchange between a preposterously English economics lecturer and Dangerfield's pragmatic character. Downey Junior in an early role is also on form. However, the humour just as frequently dives well below the middlebrow tide mark. Worth seeing if you remember this is an '80s comedy that has not aged at all well.
