In Morocco, a shepherd buys a powerful rifle for his sons to protect his herd of goats against jackals attack. The younger decides to test the weapon's range of 3 km and shots an American woman in bus. Her husband is trying the reconciliation of their lives through vacation in Morocco. Due to the incident, in San Diego their Mexican maid travels to Mexico with their children for the marriage of her son. Meanwhile in Tokyo, the police tries to contact the former owner of the rifle, and his daughter that is feeling rejected misunderstand the reason of the investigation.
Parents and children cause an extraordinary amount of problems for one another in Babel, a sweepingly ambitious epic of anxiety that tries to put its finger on an array of woes afflicting humanity in the early 21st century. Director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and writer Guillermo Arriaga's final entry in the trilogy that began with Amores Perros and continued with 21 Grams, new pic similarly features multiple intercut story strands, this time spread across three continents and, per the Biblical title, numerous languages. Effectively building dread and emotional tension as tragic incidents triggered by human stupidity and carelessness steadily multiply, this film, li...
Painful but amazing
I urge everyone to go see this film - at the cinema if possible - to be part of the incredible emotional journey this movie takes you on. The film is composed of three concurrent storylines set in three different locations: Morocco, Japan and Mexico. The stories are formed like one photograph that has been ripped into three and then pasted back together in crooked fashion - the points of connection make an incredible, indelible impact on you. Notable performances for me are those of Brad Pitt, Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi and the young goat herder Boubker Ait El Caid, all victims of the mysteries of small, but significant moments of chance. This is a tapestry of emotion and how a moment in...
If a butterfly flaps its wings in the rain forest, it will, if nothing else, set off an infinite chain reaction in the minds of Alejandro Gonz??lez I????rritu and his creative collaborator, Guillermo Arriaga. The first story begins in the Moroccan desert, where a farmer named Abdullah (Must...

I think I've underestimated Brad Pitt over the years. There's nothing I hate more than a handsome actor squeezing into hollywood getting away with their looks. But wow, he did very well here. & he had the honor to work with Cate Blanchette, so good for him fitting into the role. Bravo for everyone in this film. [SPOILER]
Why is everyone pitying the Jap gal? I think the two little boys with the rifles should've gotten that pity.
great film, great.....well....everyone. 3 different awesome stories. reminds me a bit of "amores perros". you cant miss, i do recomment. 3 of 4 stars very good.
