	Storyline:	During the closing days of WWII, a National Guard Infantry Company is assigned the task of setting up artillery observation posts in a strategic area. What can be said?

This is a good movie and shows the problems resulting with homegrown politics concerning leadership in NG units. This is not saying the enlisted personnel are not brave. More how that bravery is wasted by its leaders.

In the Regular Army, (Professionals,) we call them No-Goes. Good intentions are never meant to be used as a replacement for the man-hours of training necessary for combat operations. Weekend duty is not nearly enough and Regular Army units understand exactly how long it requires for an Infantry unit to operate as a well run team.

NGs should never be used as front line soldiers and seldom are. Most often they are used for garrison guards, check points, or convoy details. As in Iraq, where Bush was politically unwilling to initiate a Draft, to free up the duties of the regular Army for the more hazardous jobs of front line combat!

Of course, WWII was an extreme exception. Many did a good job. Many didn't.

This wasn`t one of my favorite films, from this era. It did tell a tale of what happens, when the "Brass" feels that the situation, is under-control and who they send in, to clean up, still, this one left me a bit wanting for more of everything. 3/5
