Not a literary adaptation but nevertheless good fun
This firm is only loosely based on the book by Jules Verne with the same title. Apart from a healthy dose of humour it adds another martial arts storyline that rather distracts from the main theme. Watch out for a number of interesting cameo appearances, though, particularly Richard Branson commenting on a balloon trip around the world.
Although I was a little disappointed first that the book had not been taken seriously a very much enjoyed the humour and the good-natured family fun of this film. Some of the visuals are very nice indeed and both the acting and the camera work of high standards. So forget the book, switch off your brains, get the family together and have a nice two hours of good fun. |
