I don't think this was a movie about the coming of age of a 13 year old boy in 1963 USA ( great future for Rebhorn ..incidentally he is 16 )..but it is more about the end of innocence of a country that hasn't recovered since..there was a test ( felony ), waited for a response ( none..great !! ),..thereafter full speed ahead..no more truths.

But many people are still waiting for answers.

The 1963 clothes and location were about right but it was so dramatized the accuracy was lost somewhere in the shuffle. Its still a good movie but the Kennedy thing is getting old and tired. The white and black relationships were not right and weren't really like that and the CIA was not so noticeable. I don't blame the boy for feeling like he did. So young and inexperienced but wanting to learn..

Compare George Bush With President JFK. Its pretty interesting to know what you find out. lol I love the movie and I can't believe how much people were touched.. I believe everyone should really take a look at this movie at least once.

If you look past the fiction and just take the movie for what it is (A movie) then this is a pretty good movie.. It's got a great story and a decent enough cast, if this movie had a few things different it could have been great but, it did not reach that level.. I didn't like the whole idea that [SPOILER] other then that it was pretty good in my opionion.. 3.5/5..

It was interesting because it was about president Kennedy and the 60's.

Is any of this based on fact? Did this woman really exist?

As far as the teenage boy and his relationship to this woman; well,talk about [SPOILER] I recommend watching the beautiful movie A Summer of '42 that captures much better the teen angst of loving a grown woman.

All in all, An American Affair is barely worth watching.
