I remember when this movie first came out..I never wanted to see this movie, I was 13 when this movie came out..this was my first time actually looking at the whole movie, I used to stop it right when those guys start to rape the little girl. And I honestly can say if I was in that situation I would have shot those dudes too, regardless of color..This is one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life, and in some aspect this world is still like that to this day. and this movie shows it to the fullest regardless of the time frame of the movie. Great Great Great Movie

This was a great film set in the past with a good message about the race problem back then. If you like realistic films with meanings then this is for you, I give this film a 8/10.

I have never seen a film which has bought out any emotion in me. This film bought out not just one but many. For me this is most certainly in the top 3 films I have ever seen probably the top one. Speechless ..

This is a personal favorite of mine. I read John Grisham's book of the same title and the movie stayed so close to the book I couldn't say if anything was removed from the movie that was in the book. This was Grisham's first book and IMHO his best book. This is a movie about social justice not legal justice. I have no doubt that without the closing argument made by Brigance (Matthew McConnahay) that Carl Lee (Samuel Jackson) would have been found guilty. Brigance took this from a racial issue arena and moved it to the justice arena. I would have done exactly what Carl Lee did and not lost a moments sleep because of it.

This is one great film. If you love court room drama, this is the film for you. Matthew McConaughey is amazing in this film. I was angered by most of the scenes, but it's the truth. It was this way then and (as mentioned by some previous comments) still is now. The closing argument was definitely the climax of the movie. Loved outcome of the case. 10/10

I thought this was going to be a boring courtroom drama. How wrong I was! An excellent movie for many reasons. Watch it! 9/10.

Absolutely LOVED this picture. Outstanding perfromance by entire cast, well written and very relatable to everyday life, although in an extreme way. Well worth the time to watch this excellent film!! 4.5/5
