They use him for impregnation purposes, and then plan to be rid of him.

I've read the Harlan Ellison story, and this film follows the story in many of the details.

This is (post-nuke) realism, as gritty as it gets. I give it 7/10.

i heard about this but i am wary of 70's movies, so i never watched it but after a bud told me it was good i gave it a watch and was enthralled..actually a good film..idk if my dog would be any good in the future though, as he is a mini dachshund..but he is cute as hell so he could help me score trim lol..since thats pretty much all anyone seems to want to do in that flick

couldn,t get through the first 10 min with the telepathic thing with his dog, but i like post apocalyptic movies in general, maybe i should have gave it a bit longer, but not enough patience today.

A SciFi classic The 70's were a great decade for film. The 70's saw Star Wars, The Exorcist , A Clockwork Orange, Alien and the God Father to name a few. This is a fine little tale that deserves to be remembered along with the many greats of that decade. As I said, a fine story starring the young Don Johnson. 4/5
