Seven months after the rage virus has annihilated the British isles, the US army declares that the war against infection has been won, and that the reconstruction of the country can begin. In the first wave of returning refugees, a family is reunited—but one of them unwillingly carries a terrible secret. The virus is not yet dead, and this time, it is more dangerous than ever
The whole 28 Days Later phenom gets a classy makeover -- and the birth of a potentially endless franchise -- in 28 Weeks Later, a full-bore zombie romp that more than delivers the genre goods. Helmed by Spanish director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, who debuted with the impressive 2001 fantasy thriller Intacto, the pic wraps a tight-as-a-drum script around a cheeky metaphor for contempo Iraq, with razzle-dazzle dividends. Given the muscular playoff, starting April 10 worldwide, this bleak, tough chiller could easily match the 2002 original's surprising $82 million worldwide gross if it can survive the challenge of getting caught in Spidey's slipstream.
Where the Da...
Wow!
I have to admit, I liked the original and when I heard this was coming, I was a little unsure. Sequels do have a habit of being higher in budger and lower in quality. I was more than pleasantly surprised as it is so much better than 28 Days.
From the first scenes, you will be gripped. Acting is also pretty good for a horror film. The plot zips along at 90mph, just when you think you know where the film is going, it changes direction - there are more twists than a twisty thing.
It is gory and grim (if you want mushy Americanism try Pearl Harbor) but never boring or overdone. One of the best films this decade so far :o)
Good sequel
One of the biggest surprises to me this year so far has been how impressive this second entry in the series actually is! I have been saying since this project was announced that it was a pointless remake and would only sully the impact of the first film. Well, I sit here typing this whilst chewing on my words and eating humble pie. 28 Weeks Later is slightly flawed, but an impressive addition to the tale.
The tale, of course, is the one from 28 Days Later, where an experimental virus named Rage is accidentally released on the population of Britain by some animal welfare activists. The disease turns those infected into mindless, rage-...
28 Weeks Later...
London seems to be taking a bit of a battering in SF and horror movies these days. It was a moribund slum in...
As a sequel, 28 Weeks Later... does its job too well - that is, it apes the original's brilliance, but also its flaws. As in the earlier film, the opening sequence is utter brilliance. Taking for granted that the audience know the scenario, we're introduced to Don (Carlyle) and his wife (McCormack) who, together with a group of strangers, are holed up in an old farmhouse. With candlelit meals and access to a decent wine cellar, the scenario could be described as cosy, were it not for the trauma etched on the survivors' faces.
Then, just as we saw in the first film, the slightest mistake lets hell in through the window. To give away the outcome of this opening, p...

This movie started out seemingly alright, then the two kids started to piss me off. Then more stuff pissed me off. And things just kept pissing me off, all the way thru the movie. This movie sucked big time.
All the way through the movie, you saw stupid people making stupid decisions, and in the end only jeopardizing their life even more so, if that was even possible they certainly accomplished it. It could only make you say, "WTF, WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT, YOU DUMMYHEAD?!"
Please read the spoiler if you have watched the movie. It only further dictates my position.
[SPOILER]
God dammit, that stupid mofo who jumped on the helicopter, I'm glad he died. The two kids, I hope they died. Embarrassing display of security by the US military, thank god they died. Why would you want any military with cheap security, that even someone who ran the utilities could get by? AND WHY WOULD YOU EVEN ALLOW SOMEONE THAT ONLY RAN UTILITIES HAVE CLEARANCE ACCESS TO MILITARY GROUNDS?! WERE THERE NO GUARDS, NO SENTRIES, NOBODY MONITORING THE GUY'S WIFE?!
The writer of this movie and 28 Days Later didn't even plan on having a third part until a year after this movie was produced. HOW DID THEY EXPECT THE SERIES TO END ON THIS HORRIBLE NOTE?
So, "28 Months Later" comes out in 2011 (confirmed by IMDB). I hope to God, they make it worthwhile the time. I gotta believe audiences were disgusted by the ending of this film.
Still, the fact that this movie made me all emotional about it, slamming it hard was just a way to release that tension. Despite its shortcomings, I'd like to say, as I did the first movie, that I like the creative idea of the rage virus, high rate of infectability, and the way they depict it is exciting to watch, which is why though I had an angry face on the whole movie, I had to keep watching. 7.5/10
Not bad not bad but I do agree with the other comments about 28 days later being better then 28 weeks. Started off good then slowed down alot then it revved back up again. Some parts were sad but all in all the movie doesnt compare to the bond that the selena, jim and the others had in 28 days. Still worth a watch if you like a zombie flick. I must admit though the camera shots from the zombie POV was a good addition to the flick but it was way to out of control.
it was all rights.. just a bit.. hmm.. stupid such as [SPOILER]
when that guy kissed his wife and he just went in there without any problem.. seriously.. she should be under all time security or at least monitoring.. ;/
the doctor should NOT HAVE DIED, cuz she was the only one who knew the children has the vaccine, and that was the only thing that could have protected them
Was really engaging..I still liked the first movie better, but this was not at all a bad second to it. The infected seemed alot different in this movie, more realistic? The first seemed like something was goofy with their eyes..but still realistic nontheless. I liked the children leading the movie acually, it was a nice change. Soo..when will there be a 28 Months later? Think it'll happen? I doo i doo :D
Better than the first 1 more action, in the first 1 the true enemy was the rapist soldiers 28 weeks later the enemy is the infected how it should be. And in the ending of 28 days later they had you rooting for the infected that they kill the soldiers a bit corny to me.
so many bad things in this movie, i mean stupid sh!t!!
for example theres a scene where the military lock a bunch of civilians in a small room to keep them safe from the infected.. Then one infected dude walks up to the back door, low andbehold its not even LOCKED!! this kinda of stuff happens all the way through this movie, i spent most of the time yelling at my screen lol!
I have to agree the first one was better " 28 days later " i would watch that first before this if already didn't . This wasn't too bad as a sequel even tho the stroyline was so-so i hope they can do a better if they do " 28 months later " . 3 out of 5
A really good movie in so many ways. I would have left her at the house too, why get bitten when you have no way to treat yourself just to try and fail to save that kid who lead them their, if you can't win when you are outnumbered you run plain and simple.
Good movie. I'm glad that they weren't zombies (not that i don't like zombie movies) but thta added sorta reality to it. Of course there were some pretty silly things, but that didn't ruin it too much. 7/10
*note zombies are walking dead. they were alive.. sorta
