Two things about Jane: she never says no to her friends (she's been a bridesmaid 27 times and selflessly plans friends' weddings), and she's in love with her boss, George, nurturing dreams of a lovely, romantic wedding of her own. She meets Kevin, a cynical writer who finds her attractive, and that same week her flirtatious younger sister Tess comes to town. Jane silently watches George fall for Tess, a manipulative pretender. Worse, Jane may be called upon to plan their wedding. Meanwhile, Kevin tries to get Jane's attention and has an idea that may advance his career. Can Jane uncork her fe... elings?

Frothy, funny and formulaic, 27 Dresses is a pleasantly predictable romantic comedy that sees Katherine Heigl following Knocked Up with smooth moves at the wheel of her first starring vehicle. Set to open Jan. 11, pic could prove a potent draw for femme ticketbuyers, dating couples and any Grey???s Anatomy fan who wants to see series regular Heigl in something other than a rerun.
An engaging actress with a flair for physical comedy and self-effacing humor, Heigl is immensely appealing as Jane Nichols, an ever-helpful people-pleaser whose biopic could be titled ???The Runaround Bridesmaid.???

Katherine Heigl is always the bridesmaid and never the bride in this garden-variety wedding-themed rom-com -- except here, never means later, as it should alarm nobody to learn. In this, and in every other way I can think of, 27 Dresses adheres steadfastly to formula, setting up its complications like bowling pins and resolving them to the utmost satisfaction of everyone involved, no hard feelings, no regrets, absolutely no surprises.
This, presumably, is what we flock to romantic comedies for (if it can be called flocking) -- some kind of ritualistic reassurance that no matter how grim a person's romantic prospects, love eventually does come to tho...
27 Dresses is like one of the many bridesmaid dresses featured in the film: frothy, predictable and over the top.
It's an uninspired romantic comedy that adheres slavishly to the conventions of the genre. But the movie is made pleasant by the likeability of its star, Katherine Heigl, and her chemistry with the affable James Marsden.
Certainly Heigl fares better in less formulaic fare, such as Judd Apatow's irreverent Knocked Up, but she does raise the level of this chick flick from bland to mildly entertaining.
Heigl plays Jane, a woman focused on taking care of everyone but herself. With her blond hair dyed brown, she's meant to be sort of a ...

Good movie, loved the dresses haha. But the boss is so stupid and im so tired of his stupid face and i HATE her sister, she is so not pretty and ungifted actor i haate her lol anyways if u dont think about her then the movie is great, oh and except the boss too.
Saw this movie with my best friend and we both cryed!
Such a great story! [SPOILER]
We both were pissed when her sister wanted to marry her boss! sigh.. and we both cryed when she told what her 28 dress was.. Her WEDDING DRESS ooh my god.
I didn't expect much from the movie, seeing that it got some really bad reviews.. but hey it was refreshingly good..I might be partial because I like Katherine Heigl but this movie was really cute and funny.. I would suggest people to have an open mind before watching chick-flicks such as this, because the general complaint is that they can get predictable and boring..4/5
It was cute & I liked it...I'm a fan of James Marsden, but Katherine Heigel was ok. Was it predictable? Yes, but most romantic comedies are...they're not supposed to be psychological thrillers. This movie was cute, funny & sweet, which is what I expect from this genre...glad I wasn't disappointed. The Benny & The Jets bar scene was my fave scene...pretty good soundtrack. 4/5
