Quite the Combination
This movie is by no means bad enough to coax a hundred words of hatred out of me. Cena is certainly no Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, but he left little to be offended by, and the overall cast performance was fine. Renny Harlin (director of the lesser of the Die Hard quadrillogy - Die Hard 2) keeps the action coming and tries to keep us interested. But watching a movie about a man who is forced into completing a number of tasks by a bad guy with some well placed bombs in public places is a little too alike the third of the Die Hard movies. And there is more. Watching, I couldn't help be reminded of other action movies, such as 'Speed' and 'The Rock', and the characters were very boring and one dimentional, so it's easy to see how a collaberation between Harlin's newly founded production company and WWE would make you feel that this was nothing more than a cash-cow with little effort put into its storyboard. As big a fan as I am of 'crappy' action movies, having the same 'crap' repeating on me is a little insulting.
Saying that, it filled some time, and was less demanding on my tired brain than a Chuck Norris movie. So two stars... |
