Date of Birth: 5 August 1905 Star of musical plays and operettas.He starred in the original Broadway production of 'Cole Porter' (qv)'s musical "Mexican Hayride", which was later turned into a non-musical Abbott and Costello film(!).He starred as Emile de Becque with 'Mary Martin (I)' (qv) reprising her original role as Nellie Forbush, in the first London production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "South Pacific".He starred in the original Broadway production of "Up in Central Park".
