The lead role was originally given to Harvey Keitel, who went on to succeed Glenn in the role of Jack Crawford in the The Silence of the Lambs (1991) prequel, Red Dragon (2002). Was a close friend of Toshirô Mifune. Is one of three actors to play Jack Crawford in the Hannibal Lecter films. He played the role in The Silence of the Lambs (1991), while Dennis Farina played the role in Manhunter (1986), and Harvey Keitel played the role in Red Dragon (2002). ... Despite being left-handed, he was so dedicated to playing right-handed astronaut Alan Shepard in The Right Stuff (1983), that he used his right hand for writing and other important actions on-screen.
