He was educated in New York City and trained in the drama department of NYC's Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. His first roles included a part in a docudrama about drugs on Saturday Night with Connie Chung in 1989 and an appearance in an episode of H.E.L.P. in 1990. Rory had a small role in A Kiss Before Dying, followed by his first major role as Jeff Goldblum's son in Fathers and Sons. ... After this, Rory starred in films such as: , Dazed and Confused and he appeared in Hart's War starring alongside . In 2006, Rory starred in Richard Linklater film called A Scanner Darkly, then Rory got his biggest role as Tim Speedle in CSI: Miami, alongside David Caruso, Emily Proctor, Khandi Alexander and Adam Rodriguez. Since leaving CSI: Miami, Rory has starred in a film called Public Enemies and in the film called .
