Date of Birth: 27 March 1928 While in England, he saw the stage production of The Summer of The Seventeenth Doll, by the Australian playwright Ray Lawlor and was so greatly influenced he wanted to move to Australia. In 1957, he migrated to Australia on the post-World War II 10 pound migration scheme. He lived in the bush, over 50 kilometres outside of Melbourne, in a mudbrick house he built himself.
