Had a worldwide hit in 1988 with "Im nin alu". She is the youngest of nine children to a traditional Yemenite family in the Hatikva. Her family was financially poor, but musically rich in traditional culture and history. On February 3, 1987, survived an airplane crash in a Cessna aircraft on the Israeli/Jordanian border.
