Name: Michael Medwin
Date of Birth: 18 July 1923 British actor in post WWII films who started off as brash, lively Cockneys in both war drama and light farce, later developed into intriguing character player, often eccentric. Charles Laughton and Edward G. Robinson were listed as influences in his life. Educated at Switzerland's Fischer Institute. Popular in later years on TV in "The Army Game" (1957) (in which he sang the theme tune) and "Shoestring" (1979). Produced many efforts in association with Albert Finney. ... Later turned producer and writer in the 60s. He was awarded the O.B.E.(Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2005 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to drama.
