Name: Kee Chan
Date of Birth: An idealist, dreamer, musician, and painter, Edward Kee Wah Chan was born during a period of social turbulence in Singapore, to a Doctor and doting mother. Although Kee attended the Anglican St. Andrew's School, his real-life education did not begin until he dropped out of high school and enlisted in the Armed Forces. Kee's two-year stint as a soldier opened his eyes to the realities of the world, and he set out to experience the tapestry of life as a Singapore Airlines flight attendant. While ... Kee's globe-trotting days bred distaste for the superficiality of the world, it also forged a passion for life, people, and cuisine. Through all of this, Kee began to feel that there was much more in store for his life. A move to Australia with his family would set Kee on a path to realizing his childhood dreams, but not before a business venture petered to oblivion, turning him into a man with nothing to lose. During this period of introspection, Kee decided to take a risk and return to his childhood aspiration of becoming a professional actor. Despite a tentative start playing small roles on Australian television shows, Kee, whose name means "Keeper of the Peace," was cast as Fedallah, the lead support role to 'Patrick Stewart (I)' (qv) (Captain Ahab), in _Moby Dick (1998) (TV)_ (qv). A support role in _Mission: Impossible II (2000)_ (qv) and several other smaller movies eventually led to a role as Senator Mal?-Dee in the last installment of the 'George Lucas (I)' (qv) epic, _Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)_ (qv). Kee's love and interest in people resulted in a lead role opposite 'Dennis Hopper' (qv) in the 22 episode, multi-time dimension drama series, _"Flatland" (2002)_ (qv). His most prolific character study to date, he creates an eccentric, wise, and sometimes violent alter ego to Hopper's straight shooting character. Close friends of the Mormon convert actor find him upbeat and humorous, possessing intensity for life bordering on obsession. These same friends cite loyalty and integrity as his finest qualities. His closest confidantes describe him as inspirational, vulnerable, and deeply intuitive. Possessing a colossally dry wit, he is generous to a fault. These qualities have afforded Kee a preternatural gift that enables an audience to contemplate life and truth through his depiction of characters in stories that delve into the unseen depths of human nature. Widely traveled with numerous location shoots around the world, Kee currently resides in Hollywood, California, but regularly commutes to Australia and New York City to visit family. While his thirst for life is insatiable, Kee still finds life's greatest pleasure in his personal relationships with friends and family. As life continues to inspire Kee, we follow with interest where it takes him.Read more Kee Chan movies (actor)User Comments |
