Date of Birth: 31 January 1941 A graduate of New York's High School of the Performing Arts and the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, Walter's extensive theater credits include productions both on and off Broadway. On Broadway, she has appeared in 'Peter Ustinov' (qv)'s "Photo Finish" (which earned her the Clarence Derwent Award as Most Promising Newcomer), "A Severed Head", "Advise and Consent", "Night Life" and 'Neil Simon (I)' (qv)'s "Rumors". Her off-Broadway credits include roles at Playwrights Horizons and in... Tartuffe, opposite 'Ron Leibman' (qv), at the Los Angeles Theater Center. Walter's feature films include _Play Misty for Me (1971)_ (qv), which earned her a Golden Globe nomination, and the comedy _Slums of Beverly Hills (1998)_ (qv). She has also appeared in _The Group (1966)_ (qv), _The Flamingo Kid (1984)_ (qv), _Grand Prix (1966)_ (qv), _Tapeheads (1988)_ (qv) and _PCU (1994)_ (qv), among other films. Walter received an Emmy Award for Best Dramatic Actress in the television series _"Amy Prentiss" (1974)_ (qv). She also earned Emmy nominations for her guest-starring roles in episodes of _"Trapper John, M.D." (1979)_ (qv) and _"The Streets of San Francisco" (1972)_ (qv).
