Name: Jane Krakowski
Date of Birth: 11 October 1968 Jane was the original choice for Judy in Sleepaway Camp (1983), but turned it down because her death was too violent. Won Broadway's 2003 Tony Award as Best Actress (Featured Role - Musical) for playing Carla in the revival "Nine The Musical." She had previously been nominated in the same category in 1990 for "Grand Hotel, the Musical." The first time she performed her famous anti-gravity stunt in "Nine: The Musical", was in front of an audience during the show's first preview performance. ... Won the 2006 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical (as Miss Adelaide in "Guys and Dolls"). Daughter of a teacher mother and a engineer father. They were both active in the New Jersey theater. Learned to skate for the Broadway musical, "Starlight Express". She stills skates. She learned how to perform on skates for her appearance in the roller-skating musical "Starlight Express" when she was a teenager. She kept the practice up and Tina Fey, who knew about it, wrote some skating scenes in for Jane in an episode of "30 Rock". Was encouraged to perform by her dad, an engineer, and her mom, a teacher. Attended Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts where she first met future "Ally McBeal" co-star Calista Flockhart. Her father's name is Ed Krajkowski, he is a chemical engineer. She dropped the "j" from the family last name when she began working as an actress, as people kept trying to pronounce the letter even though it is considered silent by her. However, it is not silent in Polish language from which the name Krajkowski originates. 'J' in Polish is always pronounced like 'y' in English words, so in Polish the name spelled Krajkowski would be pronounced the same as English speaking people would pronounce the name spelled Kraykovski (in Polish 'w' is pronounced like 'v', hence the change of w to v).
