President of the Screen Writers Guild. [1948-1949] Directed 6 different actors in Oscar-nominated performances: Edmund Gwenn, Grace Kelly, Bing Crosby, Gig Young, Helen Hayes, and Maureen Stapleton. Gwenn, Kelly, and Hayes won Oscars for their performances in one of Seaton's movies. President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences from 1955 to 1958. ...
