Brother of Ennio Girolami. Cousin of Massimo Vanni. Father of Stefania Girolami Goodwin and Andrea Girolami. Nephew of Romolo Guerrieri. Was offered the opportunity to direct Zombi 2 (1979), but turned down because he thought he could not direct a horror movie. Lucio Fulci eventually directed it.
