Date of Birth: 9 July 1965 His great-grandfather was Irish. He grew up in Pollok, part of the south side of Glasgow's housing schemes. Was raised in a large Catholic family. Didn't renew his contract with The District at the end of Season 1 to be able to spend more time with his son who resides in Dublin, Ireland. Has been in two films that won Best Picture: Braveheart (1995) and The Departed (2006). Despite his being born in Glasgow, Scotland, he has played Irish characters several times, notably his well-known role as Stephen in Braveheart (1995). ... Appeared with John Kavanagh in both Braveheart (1995) and Some Mother's Son (1996). Worked with Helen Mirren twice in the same year.
