He has played the love interests for real-life best friends Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman. In 21 Grams (2003), he plays Watts' beloved husband whose loss (along with their daughters) destroys her life, and in Birth (2004), he plays Kidman's fianc?e, who becomes jealous when he vies for her attention with a 10 year old boy who claims to be her deceased husband. In The Aviator (2004), he works with Cate Blanchett, who plays Katharine Hepburn, star of his father's film The The African Queen (1951). ... Went to boarding school in Somerset.
