Portrayed Horatio K. Boomer, Nick Depopoulous, the Old-Timer, Vodka, Uncle Dennis and Wallace Whimple on NBC Radio's "Fibber McGee and Molly" during the thirties and forties. His character Whimple had the same voice as his later cartoon creation Droopy Dog.
Served in the Navy during World War Two.
He died a year after the release of The AristoCats (1970), his final acting role.
